About 70% of Vizio’s LCD TVs will be made by Amtran and TPV in 2013 with the additional 30% split between Foxconn Electronics and Wistron.
Amtran is reportedly responsible for making Vizio’s 47-, 50- and 55-inch units as well as some 65-inch units while TPV is mostly responsible for 47-inch and below sizes. Foxconn meanwhile will make most of Vizio’s 60-inch and above size units.
Industry sources said that Vizio is expected to sell 6.5-7 million LCD TVs in 2013 and is optimistic about TV sales growth in North America during the second half of the year.
The sources also revealed that Vizio is not likely to release Ultra HD units in 2013 due to the lack of Ultra HD content in the market as well as to high prices for Ultra HD TV panels.
