As Taiwan has been faced with smoldering economic development, the breakthrough rests on developing industries of smart hand-held device components, according JT Wang, Acer’s ex-chairman and incumbent president of the Taipei Computer Association.
Taiwan needs high value-added manufacturing industries to boost economic development and the first choice is industries of smart hand-held device components, Wang indicated.
It was originally hoped that entire supply chains of smart hand-held device components can be developed in Taiwan, but this is no longer opportune because the industries have been fast developing in China, Wang said. However, Taiwan still has significant advantages regarding some key components, such as Largan Precision in lens module and Catcher Technology in chassis, Wang indicated. Therefore, the Taiwan government has to quickly take measures to support development of key component manufacturing in Taiwan, Wang said.
