Taiwan supply chains are showing optimism about orders from China-based handset vendors as they are making attempts to further expand into markets throughout Southeast Asia, as well as India, Europe and North America.
Xiaomi in particular is expanding its lineup of handsets ranging from entry-level to high-end units and expects increased demand throughout China in addition to other markets.
The company’s rising influence in the handset industry is expected to extend into markets outside China throughout the rest of 2014 into 2015. Xiaomi’s sales are also continuing to affect sales of other makers’ products in China including Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson and Nokia.
Taiwan supply chains meanwhile are expected to benefit from Xiaomi’s uprise, including panel and touch panel makers. Other handset vendors meanwhile are also looking to Taiwan makers to discuss possible solutions for reduced costs in order to bump up their price competitiveness in the market.
